Ty "Blasing" Schwabenbauer

My name is Ty Schwabenbauer, and I’m studying and earning a Bachelor of Arts in Comedy and Marketing at Columbia College Chicago. During this program, I have been learning about the creative world of comedy and using that learned creativity in my studies of marketing. Before all this, I studied Spanish Language and Literature at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, which helped me understand different cultures and languages. I didn’t start school until my mid-twenties. After high school, I decided to join the U.S. Air Force. I served four years in the military and left with an honorable discharge. Those four years taught me a lot about discipline and working well with others. Over four years of service, I specialized in intelligence and command and control battle management operations, developing a strong foundation in critical thinking and teamwork. During this time, I also gained proficiency in Microsoft Office and learned how to be proficient with a computer.

Now, I’m pursuing my passion for comedy and performance. I host a weekly variety show at MyBuddys Bar in Chicago, where I started my network in the comedy community, bringing together local comics every Thursday night. On the side, I work part-time as a server at Milt's Barbecue for the Perplexed, which helps me connect with different people and improve my customer service skills. My biggest project yet was producing my first comedy special. It was filmed on November 8th, 2025, at the Den Theatre in Chicago, IL. I assembled and led a team to help me film, photograph, and support the brand I’ve built. The show sold out before production day. With my experience, whether it's military, on stage, or even serving customers, it has formed me into someone who takes action, stays patient, and leads with honesty.
